Through the years, Troy has put many bags over 20-lbs on the scales on Lake Guntersville in local and charity events.

Troy Jens has been fishing his entire life since he was 3 years of age. Living in various places with his family throughout North America, Troy developed expertise in numerous species of fish on many various lakes and rivers, including everything from guiding for Musky to fly rod fishing for trout. He began guiding on a part-time basis before he was 18 when he taught people in the campgrounds how to catch big yellow perch and pan-fish in open water. He developed a successful full-time guide career over 14 years ago, when he established Troy’s Pro Guide Service on the Tennessee River in North Alabama. He was one of the first fully licensed (USCG) guides on Lake Guntersville. He spent much of his time tournament fishing, including fishing as a pro in the Bassmaster Opens. His fishing service and work has been recognized in nearly every major magazine publication in North America and as far as Italy. He has appeared frequently over the years in Bassmaster Magazine, Bass Times, Outdoor Life, Sports Afield, Cabela’s Outdoor Journal, Southern Outdoors, Inn Fisherman and countless local and regional news papers. His fishing reports have been among the most widely read reports in the country. Troy has appeared on television with names such as Roland Martin, and has done televised interviews with respect to both fishing and his long passion for conservation management. He has been a recognized and politically active advocate for aquatic habitat protection. As an outdoor journalist, Troy has had many articles published and has been a paid writer for ESPN, FLW Outdoors and the Professional Anglers Association.

Troy has developed a consulting service from his long-time guide profession in order to remain involved in the occupation he knows best, and that is teaching people how to catch more fish. But it’s not just about fishing, Troy’s fishing occupation is the direct supporting mechanism for his volunteer missionary work with children and their families. Troy is a court appointed guardian in the care system, and does extensive travel and work on a totally volunteer basis to provide spiritual support for children who have been abused or who are enduring difficult circumstances. He has been an advocate for children and people with severe/profound mental and physical challenges for many years.

“Life for children is not getting any easier… we have to make a stand for them. Precious seconds have eternal consequences, and I believe we need to become involved in any manner that we are gifted. I’m never afraid to say that I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and it is my greatest desire to be more knowledgeable and more subjective to His will. No matter how difficult things can be, God has continuously proven that His grace truly is sufficient, and His love knows no boundaries. It is my hope that Gods’ ministry to me will be His ministry through me. I am not a preacher, I am simply a fisherman that has been blessed beyond description.” – Troy Jens
